The dishwasher is loaded, the glasses are rinsed, and the house is, finally….quiet.
Dinner tonight reflected the recent cold spell and accompanying wind and rain. “Baby, It’s cold out!” Was a call for soup and bread. Kathy brought wild rice soup with mushrooms, Steve brought a garlic, ginger and rice noodles soup, Cynthia brought a vegan split pea, and I made my chili and cornbread. Julia rounded out the dinner with Apple Turnovers and ice cream. As usual, the wine flowed freely, but not to excess.
This group of people…..this previous group of casual friends has now become that “family you choose”. We gather every Sunday (sometimes more, sometimes not) to find that connection with other souls. We laugh together, we sometimes shed a tear together, we share recipes and we generally share our lives. We bring others into the fold and make them part of our extended circle.
Tonight the conversation once again turned to “You should write a book!” But, never having been one for larger projects like that, I thought I’d start with a blog. Check back on this site every week or so for suggestions, stories and recipes
And so, it begins….
